Night

Night falls.
Desperate flickers of light
try to grab at the fleeting energy
jumping across the corridor.
Can you see it?
Running across the ceiling,
swimming along the floor.

Darkness overshadows.
Deep colours of black and grey
devouring the atmosphere,
destroying hope in an instant.
They're a team, like an army-
dead, like zombies
crawling through your skin.

Emotions dampen.
Feelings moved to another universe,
thrown out of your mind, left to rot,
leaving sadness to  thrive.
Can you hear it?
Mourns from the deepest voices
obscured by rain clouds, showers of hurt.

Lives fail.
Even the brightest cannot survive,
slipping into the gravest of fates,
voids of any colour you like, as long as it's black.
Existence becomes nothing,
nature, a body of inanimate beings
fallen in a single stroke.
